The Orange Roots is a progressive contemporary reggae group. Fusing the psychedelia with transcendent reggae, Orange Roots honors its musical ancestry, touches the heart and sets the atmosphere.
The voice and image from this fusion between the modern and ancestral belongs to rasta singer Jahgun-Labi, settled in L.A., USA. His smooth, harmonic and melodious tone along with influences and experience from previous projects matched perfectly with the project’s idea that is not restricted to music. The visual side of Orange Roots is an aesthetic concept based in afrofuturism and psychedelia; an artistic creation from the photographer and artist Max Fonseca, a researcher of African culture.
Orange Roots has just finished the production of “FLUID”, an EP with five tracks recorded in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Talented musicians in the genres of afrobeat, reggae, rock, jazz and funk such as Tadeu Mascarenhas, Fabricio Mota and Iuri Carvalho helped with the creation of the project. The EP was produced by Emmanuel Mirdad, songwriter, musical and artistic director of the group and Átila Santtana, producer and arranger specialized in reggae and also guitarist from the renowned group “IFÁ Afrobeat”.
There are no boundaries for Orange Roots. It’s a group that aims to make their audiovisual work flow through the people’s minds, no matter the age, ethnicity or musical tastes, contemplating its progressive and psychedelic reggae.
